The Tryst

Mirabella

Breakfast with the Sieves passes in a blur. I’m barely able to keep my face from falling into my eggs after such a long, sleepless night. The sacrifice was necessary, but the lack of sleep is especially brutal in the early morning hours. The Sieves don’t seem to notice their house guests all lack pep and sport under-eye bags as they’re too busy regaling us with tales of the twin’s past.

Returning to the guesthouse afterwards, I trudge inside with a nap in mind. Hopefully, I’ll be better rested before we eat with the Sieves again. Then I’ll be in the right state of mind to snag a few pictures of the twins as kids. For future teasing and blackmail opportunities.

Instead of immediately heading to bed, I detour to the kitchen. The lack of sleep has transitioned into a pounding headache and I desperately need water and ibuprofen. I open a few cupboards before finding the glasses, then turn to the sink and fill my cup with tap water. After a couple sips, my brain seems a little less angry. Turning to the pantry, I search the lower shelves, then perch on my tiptoes as I hunt for miracle-cure medicine.

“Little Mir.”

The words are whispered directly behind my left ear. Surprise causes me to lose my balance and I almost tip face forward into shelves laden with snacks. Vlad’s quick reflexes catch me. His arms wrap around my waist, tugging my back against his front, and saving me from a snack catastrophe.

He tucks his nose into the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply. I expect him to release me, but he peppers my neck with soft, light kisses, instead. I sigh and lean into him further, only to have a rock-hard erection press against my spine.

“I have a surprise for you,” Vlad whispers between kisses.

I chuckle, then murmur back, “If I can feel it, is it still a surprise?”

“What?” Vlad asks. He stops his kisses and gently pushes against my shoulder to twirl me around. Our eyes connect and I notice the confusion in his amber gaze almost immediately.

My cheeks heat as I realize he was not attempting to dirty talk me.

He processes my words seconds later and releases a deep, belly laugh. His gaze turns heated, and he rakes a quick glance down my body. Leaning closer he whispers, “That wasn’t exactly the surprise I had in mind, but it can be, if you want.”

Giggling to cover my extreme mortification, I playfully push against his shoulder. “Tell me the real surprise first. Maybe that can come later.”

A smirk graces his plump lips, and he tangles a hand in my hair. His face tips forward and he places a light kiss against my mouth. Angling my head to kiss across my jaw, he ends his trail underneath my ear.

I tug against his hold seeking an acutal kiss, instead of his soft teasing ones. Vlad receives the unspoken message and hovers above my mouth for a brief pause. Then, our lips collide in a searing kiss.
